Monster Mash, 9 months

Crawling has officially begun! Elle is a very cautious baby when it comes to any sort of flooring change. This makes the kitchen floor a cattle gate of sorts! She crawls to the edge and screams! If the invisible string between Momma or Daddy seems too long, Elle puts her head down and cries as she doesn't have the endurance or attention span to make it across the house.

Still not too happy to sit in one place too long as she has places to go and people to see!

and she is off...

Elle loves to walk with assistance. She squeaks and giggles the whole time. The stiff legs remind me of the Monster Mash!

9 months:

- I am crawling cautiously

- I can sit up on my own

-I have two teeth now on the top

-I am starting to eat more solids and feed myself

- I love beans, puffs, teething biters, bananas, mangos, and green beans

- I went swimming with my Daddy for the first time in Port Townsend

- I love my singing cow, especially when I first wake up from a nap. Mommy sings along which sometimes scares the cow I think...

A movin' and a shakin'

8 months past so quickly I don't remember even blinking! It is getting harder each month to get Elle to sit still long enough for a picture on the quilt.

Enough hair to actually warrant a headband!

Oh...shoes!

If you could see her feet you would see Elle is now missing said shoes!

Shark attack! She kept inching her way closer to the camera until she was breathing on it!

8 month milestones:
- I am working on sitting up on my own
- I can pick up small objects with my hands, which I actually own!
- I can roll front to back
- I am not a fan of shoes but do love the taste of socks!
- Daddy and Momma took my on my first vacation to the Oregon Coast! I did great traveling in the back seat with Mommy and Grami.

7 months came and went

We are really good at taking Elle's monthly picture on the quilt but not so much on posting. I plan to retro this back to February so it is in order for prosperity's sake!

This outfit happens to be one of my beary favorites and just so happens we were given it in 3mths and 6mths sizes. I went ahead and bought it in 9mths and 12mths figuring why the heck not! Someday we will do an entire post on this outfit over the year!

At 7mths:
- I grew more hair
- My second tooth on bottom came in
- I can sit up for as long as I want
- I love my rattle, the noise it makes is awesome!
- I haven't met a fruit or veggie I do not like
- During the day I get to hang out with Lucky the puppy and I squeal when I see any puppy now
- Momma and Daddy love to take me bowling, yet I still haven't managed to stay awake through the whole night

For your enjoyment: A little bit of Lemon juice

Two for the price of one...

Elle had her big 9mth appt last week. As you can see she was very excited and woke up extra early for it!

Waiting for the Dr. was a lot of fun. The paper table cover suffered the most damage. We were very luckily Elle didn't notice the blood pressure cuff behind her.

Elle stats were pretty similar to her 6mth appt. Height is in the 70th percentile, head 80th percentile, and weight in the 50th percentile as well. The full report will come on her 9th month picture post, which I hope to have up before she turns 10 mths :)

Turns out this visit was a two for one as Elle had the start of her first ear infection. I told the Dr. I thought she wasn't feeling very well so he looked her all over and agreed she was getting an ear infection. I was so happy that he was able to see it and prescribe antibiotics as we were leaving for vacation two days later.

I forgot how much I love the smell of amoxicillin! Elle loved it the first night and kept reaching for more… Well, the next morning was a different story….

Note: it is 5:30am and my reflexes are not as good as they use to be! Moments after this picture was taken Elle decided she didn’t like the amoxicillin and proceeded to spit it on me as well as knock the whole (only one dose of the ten day doses) out of my hand and all over our beige carpet. Needless to say I did not make it to work that day. Colby was a trooper and pulled the carpet cleaning machine out of the garage and started to work at the big pink blob on the oh, so beige (picked when we were childless) carpet at 5:33am. Most of the bottle was empty so I had to call the Doctor’s office when they opened to have a new prescription sent in. I am pretty sure the nurse was saying rookie move, first time mom, rookie move!

Oh, I did get to sample my beloved amoxicillin and I don’t think it is as good as I remembered, sad.

Halftime report

Elleanor is officially 6 months old!  I truly can't get over how quickly the time has passed!  All of the books we have read could not have prepared us for the love and joy we experience everyday with Elleanor!

Elle is quite a happy baby!  Sometimes at night I will hear her giggle in her sleep and it just melts my heart!

Here she is preparing for her "I am going to get you attack" all the while laughing at us!  Seriously, life is good around our house!

 :
- I can sit by myself but still a little wobbly
- My first tooth appeared
- I am starting to enjoy food.
- I have tried rice cereal, sweet potatoes, sweet peas, apples, pears, and mum mum crackers
-I love my Sophie Giraffe and stuffed Camel
- I now refuse to use a pacifier, probably because Mommy bought stock in the Soothie Company...
- I still loves car rides and can't stay awake, no matter how hard I tries
- I am LOVED

Wrapping up this half time report.... The starting lineup stats:

Weight: 16 pounds 50th percentile.  Planning to attack more foods this coming half
Length: 26 1/4 inches 70th percentile. Stretching, yip daily stretching should take care of this
Head 16 3/4 60th percentile Mommy says my head is perfect so we can't mess with perfection

Five months old

Five months came and went way too fast.  It hit right at Thanksgiving and just as the Christmas rush started.

Elle started to read...just kidding.  Elle received a letter from the big guy aka Santa!  She thought he wanted her to eat the note but then Daddy explained that it was a letter as he proceeded to read it to her.  Let me tell you she really minded her Ps and Qs until Christmas after that!

A quick run down of Elle's 5 month accomplishments:
-She loves her bumbo
-The jumperoo is awesome but we had to put the Wii Fit board under it so she could touch
-Interested in her toes
-Starting to sleep better and has been in her crib one whole month!  Personally this may be Mommy's accomplishment not Elles.  It was hard on her let's just say

127 days later...

It has actually been 4 months since we took Elleanor home from the hospital and it is official she is ours to keep! Last bill has been paid and she is officially off layaway :)

We celebrated with our celebrity shot.

Gnawing on the camel always makes Elle happy.

Today was Elle's 4 month appoint. Drum roll please..... I am 25 3/4 inches tall putting me in the 90th percentile!  I weighted in at 14lbs 9ozs which is perfect fighting weight in the 75th percentile.  My head is only 16 1/2 inches around and moved up to the 75th percentile!

Elleanor's 4 Month Milestones:

  • I can roll over
  • I no longer wear size 1 diapers no matter how Mommy tries to squeeze me in
  • I blow bubbles and it makes Mommy and Daddy giggle
  • I love to smile and laugh all the time
  • I just love to grab my knees and tuck into a ball
  • Sleeping is for car rides, strollers, baby bjorn, and while in arms.  Cribs are overrated...
  • Mommy and Daddy have invested in millions of pacificers but still manage to forget them at home
  • The bumbo rocks I am getting better at sitting up and not slumping over
  • I am not quite tall enough for my jumperoo but with the help of the Wii Fit I am now able to jump and play!

It was another great month for Elleanor and we are looking forward to the holiday season ahead.  Hope to see you all soon!

1st Quarter

Elleanor has now officially turned 3 months old. We can't believe it's been a quarter of a year! With that, we decided that she had definitely outgrown her Moses basket, don't you agree?

Tada! Time for the crib...(insert screeching tire sound here) but wait, that isn't a crib! Mommy wasn't quite ready for her to leave the room. (please don't judge) Just a little while longer in her intermediate bed before it's off to her own room.

Tonight we had a little photo shoot to commemorate the milestone.
This is her real outfit from today.

A little salute out to her peeps

All dressed up with nowhere to go but bed.

We still love this hat!

Looking back over the past three months, we have already learned so much from this little piece of heaven.
What we have learned in this short amount of time:

  • Packing your lunch at night means 5 more minutes to cuddle with Elle in the morning

  • Mommy is now trained to get up at the sound of Elle's feet slamming on the mattress and the fierce sucking of her wrist instead of a cry

  • Bath time is fun, and it keeps the plants watered

  • We have the best family, friends, and neighbors on the planet

  • Changing diapers isn't really that bad, and sometimes kind of funny

  • Never underestimate how much you can get done during a 30 minute nap

  • You can't prepare yourself for the immense joy of hearing your baby laugh

  • A wink and a smile will get you anything from Mommy and Daddy

Elleanor's 3 Month Milestones:

  • I love to smile at Mommy and Daddy

  • I can stick my tongue out and mimic eating during dinnertime

  • I can laugh in three different ways; belly, squeal, and gasp

  • My hands are no longer foe, but friend

  • I like to nestle under Mommy's chin when she gets home from work

  • I pass the sniff test every night after bath time

  • Cooing lets me tell Mommy and Daddy about my fun day at Amy's

Weighed and Measured

On Friday, Elleanor had her 2 month checkup. Daddy took the day off so we could properly prepare for the weigh-in. We did our stretching exercises and took a nice big bottle to bulk up.

Elleanor making her mark on the table. You can just see the lines on the paper they used to measure her length. She is now 23" long (90%) and her head is in the 50th percentile so an improvement over the last appointment.

She weighed in at a nice 11lbs. 11oz. She's definitely a keeper! This put her in the 75th percentile.

This was the calm before the storm. Next up were her immunization shots. The doctor was nice enough to hand us a bottle of infant Tylenol before he left and sent in the nurse who had drawn the short straw for the day.

Luckily this picture doesn't have sound! Just imagine crying that turned into a general hiss. Elle was definitely not her smiley self at this point. Luckily she did sooth herself down rather quickly once mommy could pick her up. She left with three cute little Band-Aids and a pretty horse sticker. Daddy said no to the sucker. Maybe next time.

8 Weeks Old

Today is very bitter sweet. Elleanor turned 8 weeks old. Unfortunately, that also means that Kim's 8-week maternity leave is over. After her bath tonight, Elle posed for a couple of pictures on her favorite rug.

As all beautiful models know, posing is hard work. she only made it a minute or so before it was lights out.

I think she was dreaming about being a bunny rabbit at this point.

Here she is telling mommy it will be A-Okay. Tomorrow will be rough but we know she will be in great hands as Gamma and Gampa will be filling in this week. Kim has left lots of milk for Gamma to give her in hopes that her 2-month appointment on Friday is a good one. We're going for 100% across the board!
P.S. If you happen to know tomorrows winning powerball numbers, please pass them along ;o)

One Month

Elleanor is happy to be finally turning one month old today!!! Seriously, we can't believe it has already been that long. Time is moving too quickly, Colby has to return to work on Tuesday.
We are amazed at the changes in both Elle and ourselves. Life has slowed down in our home and we are taking the time to enjoy every moment.
