1st Quarter

Elleanor has now officially turned 3 months old. We can't believe it's been a quarter of a year! With that, we decided that she had definitely outgrown her Moses basket, don't you agree?

Tada! Time for the crib...(insert screeching tire sound here) but wait, that isn't a crib! Mommy wasn't quite ready for her to leave the room. (please don't judge) Just a little while longer in her intermediate bed before it's off to her own room.

Tonight we had a little photo shoot to commemorate the milestone.
This is her real outfit from today.

A little salute out to her peeps

All dressed up with nowhere to go but bed.

We still love this hat!

Looking back over the past three months, we have already learned so much from this little piece of heaven.
What we have learned in this short amount of time:

  • Packing your lunch at night means 5 more minutes to cuddle with Elle in the morning

  • Mommy is now trained to get up at the sound of Elle's feet slamming on the mattress and the fierce sucking of her wrist instead of a cry

  • Bath time is fun, and it keeps the plants watered

  • We have the best family, friends, and neighbors on the planet

  • Changing diapers isn't really that bad, and sometimes kind of funny

  • Never underestimate how much you can get done during a 30 minute nap

  • You can't prepare yourself for the immense joy of hearing your baby laugh

  • A wink and a smile will get you anything from Mommy and Daddy

Elleanor's 3 Month Milestones:

  • I love to smile at Mommy and Daddy

  • I can stick my tongue out and mimic eating during dinnertime

  • I can laugh in three different ways; belly, squeal, and gasp

  • My hands are no longer foe, but friend

  • I like to nestle under Mommy's chin when she gets home from work

  • I pass the sniff test every night after bath time

  • Cooing lets me tell Mommy and Daddy about my fun day at Amy's

Photo shoot

Colby and I had another busy weekend. Friday night I attended a jewelry show, it was really hard to contain myself but I only purchased a brooch that is super pretty and will look awesome with a dress, on a necklace, or in my hair. See purchase justified!

Any who, Saturday we headed into Seattle to visit my friend Michelle, who got engaged 9/9/9! How cool is that? Michelle and Bill plan to be married 10/10/10, even sweeter, huh? Michelle's ring is amazing and totally her, perfect! Bill had it designed and I meant to take a picture of it but instead Michelle turned our visit into a photo shoot with her new camera. Here are a few of the pictures. I hope to meet up with Michelle this coming weekend to burn a cd with all of them as they are awesome and she took at least 100 pictures!

Little wink for the camera to get things started!

Family photo

Michelle "vintigized" this picture so it has the 80s feel to it!

We have a ton of pictures to post as we did the Light the night walk Saturday as well as pictures from the beginning of September which is over in two days! Can you believe it?? I just can't get over it and that Elle will be 3 months old tomorrow!

Summer holding on

So it took a couple of days to get this up but here is a picture from our drive home on Tuesday. Tough to believe it would be 96 (it aactually said 97 a couple of miles later) in Maple Valley on the first day of fall. I might have believed it in eastern Washington but not here.

End of summer

We had a small dinner party on Saturday night. If we were farmers and had a crop it would have been a harvest party but the only thing harvested was a single dahlia from the back yard.

Kim set up a beautiful arrangement in the back yard complete with two tables, flowers and candles in mason jars, and just the right mood. When it got to be dinnertime though, it was just too darn cold to be outside so everything moved to the dining room.

Dinner was excellent and afterwards Tanner showed everyone his skills on the Wii.

Elle got to meet Ashelyn and they hit it off perfectly. Elle was the perfect hostess and on her best behavior all night.

The two were best of friends by the time everyone left. Sorry, Charlotte was in attendance as well but the camera only made it out a couple of times.

Tanner and Elle hanging out at the end of the night.

Today was a recovery day. After a quick trip to Costco for some essentials, it was home to clean and watch football on the couch. A perfect lazy Sunday.
We hope you all had a great weekend too!

On the upswing

Elleanor is getting back to her perky self. She never lost the smile but sometimes it was hard to see it between all the sneezes.

Unfortunately, a lot of those sneezes were aimed at Mommy and she caught the bug full force. Here's wishing both of them (and Auntie Tracy) a speedy recovery!!! :O)

First cold

Elleanor caught her first cold! I think it snuck up on her Sunday night, say around 1 am... Poor baby! The nose sucker thingy sure is worth it's weight in gold!

We sure hope this passes quickly!

Before Kim Discovered HGTV

While Kim was home with Elle, they ended up watching a lot of HGTV. Unfortunately, it inspired her to spruce up a lot of the rooms in our house. This is what our master bedroom looked like on Friday.

Obviously, Elle wasn't pleased with the way it looked either

"How About a Headboard?"

Sure, that sounds like a great idea. It was off to Home Depot and Joann's for supplies. (Sometimes I really wish I had a truck)

A little measuring, cutting, and stapling...

The Finished Design...

We painted the walls a "Cool Cucumber', made the headboard, and added new lamps next to the bed from Ikea

Kim painted a garage sale mirror and mounted some art she made

Kim also framed some pictures of the three of us for her side of the bed

And of course the frame that Poppi made us is back on the wall

Kim and Elle enjoying the beautiful new room. It was a lot of hard work and we may never paint again but it was all worth it in the end.

Of course Elle loves the new room and what good is a post without plenty of our smiling girl

"The mirror is THIS big"

"Aha! The bed is mine!"

Other Projects From This Weekend

Kim Finished up this rope rug for Tracy. It's out of the Martha Stewart Craft Book she got for her birthday from my parents. She plans on trying to do a project from each chapter in the next year.

Kim also made Elle a hair barrette. I think she might have jumped the gun on Elle's hair style but it is very cute.

Next up was the artwork. A little modge podge, craft paper, canvas and voila!

A few frames and pictures that were scattered around the house found their perfect mates

Kim also cooked up a storm on Monday in the hopes that it would last all week. On the menu is breakfast casserole, potato bacon torte, bananna bread, and a host of other dishes.

I spend some quality "guy time" out in the garage building this wine rack for the closet. Apparently I caught the HGTV bug too.

The finished rack all loaded up. I guess I have to build another one before we can buy any more wine.

I hope everyone was able to enjoy their weekend and relax a little bit more than we did!

Something to tide you over

We have been super busy "laboring" this Labor Day weekend. We will have pictures of the final products tomorrow night hopefully. Let's just say HGTV is the devil. This is a video I shot earlier this week. It was bedtime but Elle was using her cuteness to stay up "just a few more minutes, Dad"
