Shower Them With Presents

Here is what I crafted for Liz and Muffy.

I took a picture of Stewie.  Liz and Myron's dog and make a crinkly toy for baby bok choy as they refer to her :)

The first dress baby dress, I have ever sewn.  I need to make Muffy one as well as Elle.  It is based loosely on Homemade by Jill's itty bitty dress.

Penguin mail

Elle got the cutest penguin in the mail last week! Thank you so much Kristin! It arrived in perfect condition! The blogging world is ginormous but also quite small. Through blogging I have become friends with Kristin - Bean Sprout’s Momma. She had commented on a hat Elle was wearing that Lana – Wasians made for her. I thought it would be a nice surprise to ask Lana to make Kristin’s baby Griffin a set of hats. So, I bought Lana some yarn and 12 hrs later two hats were ready for shipping! Seriously, bought the yarn at lunch and Lana made them that night! I took forever to mail as I wanted to make something for Griffin myself but I am about 50 projects behind, someday …

Anyways long story… Kristin sent over this adorable Penguin that she made for Elle and a penguin holding a cupcake for Lana. Both are so stinking cute! My project list is now at 51 as I want to make a penguin or two as I just love them!

Thank you again Kristin, for thinking of us and I do enjoy reading your blog! I think project 52 will be to spotlight all the blogs that I read. It is wonderful to catch a glimpse of life outside my own little bubble and to know life is good!

mmm, muffins

One of my New Year's goals is to make a part of every present I give. January was a challenging month for this goal as I had one birthday and a baby shower to attend. For Amy's birthday I made pineapple puff muffins and earrings for Elle to give her in the morning.

The earrings I made as well but I don't want to post them as they maybe in a present to you too! Well, only if you are a girl :) Kim from my office gave me the cutest cupcake party favor kit which I decided to use one to hold the earrings.

The bag and presentation I thought turned out well and 100% handmade! YEAH!! Only 11 more months, 18 birthdays including one 1st!! 5 babies, 3 holidays, 2 weddings, and 1 3rd anniversary! I can so do this!!

Mama's Holiday Wishlist Meme

TodaysMama and Provo Craft are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What 5 items are on your holiday wish list this year?
• Running shoes to use on my new treadmill.
• Elastic waist pants to be in style again so I won’t have to use the said treadmill.
• Nothing to break around the house. After getting the garage door fixed yesterday the house is back to par.
• Different colored carpet. Light coffee color wasn’t the smartest choice.
• Did I mention sleep?

2. What is your favorite handmade gift you have received?
• A handmade cabbage patch doll from Grandma W.  I named her Cabbie. Wasn’t I a creative child?

3. What handmade gift have you always wanted to tackle?
• Where to begin... I have a long list, flowers on hand bands, baby toys, dolls, ruffely shirts, marshmallows, and a quilt. Seriously I could keep going for days!

4. What was the best Christmas gift you received as a child?
• Oh, this is a hard one… I don’t think I have met a present I didn’t love!

5. What items are on your kid’s wish list this year?
• Elle has been begging and begging for a horse but I told her not until she is at least 15, then we will discuss
• Bling, loves the bling
• A Tat like Poppi’s. Love you Poppi!

Okay her real list is quite simple since she will only be 5mths old.
• Hugs and Kisses
• Blocks
• A stuffed animal

6. What is your favorite holiday food?
• Potatoes!! I love Potatoes!! Mashed, scalloped, twice baked, baked, mixed with sweet potatoes. I won’t shy away from any potato!

7. What will you be hand-crafting for the holidays?
• Marshmallows
• Salted caramels
• Beef Jerky
• Fruit leather
• Elleanor’s Christmas stocking, getting closer on it
• A few other surprises but I don’t want to give them away. Okay, truthfully I may not finish them so I don’t want to get hopes up

8. What is your favorite holiday movie?
Well, I have three and could watch them year round.
• National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
• Christmas Story
• White Christmas
• Love Actually

9. Favorite holiday song?
• I have a bath and bodyworks cd that I just adore.

10. Favorite holiday pastime?
• Sitting next to or partially under the Christmas tree everyday at night with the tree lite and house lights off. The smell is intoxicating!
• I love going to downtown Seattle and seeing the lights, shops decorated, the brisk air. LOVE IT!!
• Christmas parties! Getting dressed up, seeing everyone happy and joyful!
• Decorating the house, my house. I felt like a real grown up last year decorating. I can’t wait to decorate the tree and put up the lights.

I am tagging everyone who reads this as it is a great contest and if you win I want to use your cricut and Yudu ASAP!!!!!

"How About a Headboard?"

Sure, that sounds like a great idea. It was off to Home Depot and Joann's for supplies. (Sometimes I really wish I had a truck)

A little measuring, cutting, and stapling...

The Finished Design...

We painted the walls a "Cool Cucumber', made the headboard, and added new lamps next to the bed from Ikea

Kim painted a garage sale mirror and mounted some art she made

Kim also framed some pictures of the three of us for her side of the bed

And of course the frame that Poppi made us is back on the wall

Kim and Elle enjoying the beautiful new room. It was a lot of hard work and we may never paint again but it was all worth it in the end.

Of course Elle loves the new room and what good is a post without plenty of our smiling girl

"The mirror is THIS big"

"Aha! The bed is mine!"

Other Projects From This Weekend

Kim Finished up this rope rug for Tracy. It's out of the Martha Stewart Craft Book she got for her birthday from my parents. She plans on trying to do a project from each chapter in the next year.

Kim also made Elle a hair barrette. I think she might have jumped the gun on Elle's hair style but it is very cute.

Next up was the artwork. A little modge podge, craft paper, canvas and voila!

A few frames and pictures that were scattered around the house found their perfect mates

Kim also cooked up a storm on Monday in the hopes that it would last all week. On the menu is breakfast casserole, potato bacon torte, bananna bread, and a host of other dishes.

I spend some quality "guy time" out in the garage building this wine rack for the closet. Apparently I caught the HGTV bug too.

The finished rack all loaded up. I guess I have to build another one before we can buy any more wine.

I hope everyone was able to enjoy their weekend and relax a little bit more than we did!

From crap room to craft room/office

This was a very clean office until we decided to make my craft room into Elleanor's nursery. My craftiness swallowed the whole room and I am pretty sure it belched the other night!
Now that I am feeling better and only have two more weeks left of being home I felt the time was right to start. So for the past three days I have been working on the office/craft room whenever Miss Elle allows.

Caution: Enter at your own risk!

Abra Cadabra! New room!

The office side of the room received royal treatment too (a good dusting)

Colby installed the shelf.

I organized the closet with an different sized bins and tubs all of which are labeled! Mom, aren't you proud? I didn't think I got your cleaning/organizing gene but apparently it has been in hibernation (I have been fighting it) until now!
