Light the Night

Colby and I are a little behind on posting. The last few weeks of September flew by! On the 20th we participated in the Light the night walk. We walked around Greenlake in honor of Dad S.

Ken standing for photos and autographs by his picture. Ken's balloon is white as he is considered a survivor as his transplant was successful. However it is still a long road to recovery and we can't wait for the 1 year mark to finally exhale a sigh of relieve.

We are off on the loop around the lake. They had lights inside of the balloons at dusk the walk began and the sky lite up! I am the one in the red hat and Holly is in white hat to my left. Brian and Tanner are directly in front of us.

Colby and I posing for our self-portrait. We just released our balloons into the sky. The picture didn't turn out well of it but we both made wishes.

Our new yard ornament

This is the before picture. Kim's co-worker Keri was getting rid of this wonderful playset. We thought it would be a wonderful addition to our backyard (not knowing what one of these things actually weighs.)

Uncle Donny and Aunt Wendy were kind enough to lend us their truck, their tools, and their backs to help us get the playset moved.

Just getting it out of Keri's back yard was an event. Her husband Ken and a neighbor helped Donny and I lift it above our heads in order to get it past their fence. Here is the main part of the structure after it was loaded into the truck.

Unfortunately, there are no pictures on the other end of the move. That's because nobody had a free hand to shoot any. Wendy, Donny, Kim and I wrestled the set out of the truck and along the side of the house where we had about an inch to spare. After losing one of the aforementioned backs (sorry Wendy) we were able to get it into it's final resting place. I emphasize the word final because there is no way it is coming back out of the backyard.

I would show you finished pictures in the back yard, but it has not yet been reassembled. With all the neighborhood kids running around, we thought it would be best to finish the gates to create a secure area first. That's the plan for this weekend so hopefully there will be more pictures by Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed! :O)

Happy Birthday Soph!!!

This reminded us of clowns coming out of a little car. Just how many are in there?!? 20?!?

Bella got a little overzealous with the pirate pose.

Swashbucklers at sea.

A little video to give you a taste of the fun.

Sophie's birthday at preschool

Kimmie and I were lucky enough to take Sophie to school on her special day at preschool. We took her out to lunch and then dropped her off. We got to meet her teachers and see her classroom. The sign had a spot for her to fill out what she wanted for her birthday. She said she wanted her very own camera.

Taking her to school was the easy part, picking her up proved to be another story entirely. After dodging the tricycle racetrack, we spotted her in the little pink house. It was funny to see her reaction when we got there. Luckily, Tracy armed us with the secret trick to get her home (a snack waiting on the car seat.) It was a fun afternoon and we were honored to help.

Aw Shucks!!

Sorry to be a bit "corn"ey but here are some pictures from a couple of weeks ago.

Mom and Dad O brought us some fresh picked (by the hands of Bruce) corn and we spent an afternoon shucking.

It took a little practice, but we finally figured out how to use our Food Saver.

"Corn-o-copia" - sorry, all this corn must be going to our heads :O)

Here is an inside look at the new freezer that will be the corn's home for a while. We are hoping for an Eggo endorsement for the subliminal advertising.

White River, here we come!

Mt. Rainier was very prominent and demanded every one's attention as we waited to head into White River for SANTANA!!

Daddy-O loves Santana so when I heard they were going to be in town, I knew we needed to get tickets pronto!

The music was amazing!

Not a bad view for $10 tickets!! Okay $10 +$4 handling + $5 parking surcharge...

Ladies and gents turn up your sound system to the sound of Carlos Santana and the GMB

When they played Maria, Maria everyone began singing! It was so cool to see them live and now I can say I have seen #15 of the the top 100 greatest artist in history.

We will be going to White River Amphitheatre more often as it was super quick in and out. Great location for a concert!

Here is a video of Carlos playing "Black Magic Women"

Got a black magic woman
Got a black magic woman
I've got a black magic woman
Got me so blind I can't see
that she's a black magic woman
She's trying to make a devil out of me

Garage Sale

We had really good luck at our garage sale this weekend to raise money for the Light the Night walk. The weather cooperated and we had lots of things donated for the sale. Sorry for the poor picture quality, Kim had the camera for the day and I used the cell phone for these pics.

Kim and I found lots of things to contribute (aka: we got some good housecleaning done)

The crowds were great. At times we had almost a dozen cars parked with people looking through. I don't have the final numbers for total dollars made but I think we did great.

Meanwhile , in a different part of the state

While they were driving to a baby shower in Rainier, Kim and her mom Terry were rear-ended. Both are okay but definitely never a fun experience. Kim was lucky enough to see the other driver coming (he was looking down at a map...and they say cell phones are dangerous) and managed to pull as much out of the way as she could without going into oncoming traffic.

The Altima took it's fair share of the hit but we are all impressed with the way it held up to the mean ol' truck.

Wish us luck as we begin the fun battles against insurance companies :O)
